problem with S3 Savage driver and Envision LCD monitor
Can anyone tel me what to look for as in refresh rate and the like? First, they have more viewable area than than CRT's of the same size. Second, they do not really When my video card isn't putting out the 60Hz signal it expects, it floats a box over the perfectly visible screen that says "Signal Out of Range.

Problem with the Kogi 17" LCD monitor
Modern well-designed CRTs will not burn-out prematurely. If you set the refresh-rate too high, most *decent* CRTs (and LCD-panels) have built-in protection that will automatically blank the screen, and flash a message saying the input-signal is 'out of range.' (At least that's what the Viewsonic P815 and P225 do.

But it is not too low in principle for LCD. LCDs are built to emulate CRTs in many ways (big surprise, eh?). Many LCDs display somewhere near 60 Hz because of the in xorg.conf HorizSync 30-95 # 30-95 KHz VertRefresh 55-160 # 55-160 Hz The copy of xorg.conf I had did not specify the vertical refresh rate at all.

Is it the refresh rate? It's a digital LCD monitor. Thanks! You haven't stated what operating system.I'll assume XP. Control Panel/Display/Monitor and set the refresh rate to 75hz. HTH :) Why 75Hz? Not all LCDs have the same refresh - the native refresh for mine is 60Hz. Yours might be 75, but OMMV.

8600 gt refresh rate problem
I've seen a similar message before on a number of LCD screens. And a VGA input is classed as analog(ue). With the old CRT screens, if the res/refresh were out of range you used to get a picture that was all over the place or just a blank screen - at least LCDs try to tell you what's wrong. I guess.

LCD Monitor fails to display
When set to 1024x768 the display reports 'out of range' and shows a badly distorted picture. Allegedly the display will accept 48.4kHz/60.0Hz or 56.5kHz/70.0Hz, or 60.0kHz/75.0Hz (Hsync/Vsync), Short of stuffing a scope on the output to see what it is up to, is there a way of forcing a specific refresh rate?

LCD monitor question
My monitor will report "Out Of Range" on the OSD (on screen display), when the refresh is too fast, or the resolution too large. I only get "No Signal" if no cable is The "No Signal" suggests to me, that the LCD monitor isn't even looking at the VGA connector. Maybe it is looking at one of the RCA connectors ?
